Here’s Some Advice For Your Long Distance Move:

If you’re going to be making a long distance move, you have to decide if you’re going to handle it yourself or have the movers do everything for you. That’s your big decision, as it dictates how you plan out everything else. As you move forward with your plan, these long distance moving tips that can help you be sure that there aren’t any hitches along the way.
Let’s assume that you’re going to handle the move by yourself. Even if you were to hire a moving company, there is the option to save money by hiring one that has you do the packing. That doesn’t mean you pack all the heavy furniture onto the moving truck. The movers will do that for you of course, but that still leaves you with a lot of packing and organizing to do. Think about whether or not you need to get your boxes and packing supplies together.
When deciding to do your packing of the small stuff, you don’t want to go over budget on supplies. If you’re going to do that, you might as well spend the extra money and let the professionals pack you up. They can certainly do it faster, but there is nothing wrong with taking care of the packing yourself. You know you don’t have to do all of the work, and you’re not paying too much money.
As you pack up pots, pans, collectibles and more in boxes, just keep looking at the furniture and remember that’s not your responsibility. Soon, everything will be packed and marked, and all belongings will be carried out and loaded nicely and neatly on a truck. The movers will take your belongings to your destination, and so your work is done.
Also when planning a long distance move, you need to be thinking about insurance on your belongings. Even if you plan on renting a truck and loading everything up yourself, you might want to think about this. Additionally, with professional movers, you might think that their experience warrants you not needing to opt for the insurance. This is a long distance move, and anything can happen along the way.
No doubt, they will handle your belongings with care as you would. You just need to be sure that you’re organized as well no matter what duties you leave on the table for you to do yourself. You still have to get you and your family to your new location. If you think there’s not more for you to do, think again.
Long distance moves can be a little taxing, but they are also very exciting. My last long distance move was four years ago, and I’m hoping based on where I live now that it’s my last move. It was a road trip of a lifetime. I took my belongings the entire way, but whether you do that or not, that road trip and your move should be a very enjoyable experience.
